FeMS Bootcamp Volunteer
Location: Remote
Position Type: Part-time volunteer (~2 hours/week | April – September 2025)
About Us: Empowering Female Minds in STEM (EFeMS) is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting African women in STEM higher education. We offer mentorship, training, and community-building initiatives that help women thrive in STEM fields.
Job Overview: We are seeking passionate and committed volunteers to support the planning and execution of our upcoming FeMS BootCamp 2025 — a three-day leadership and skills-building experience for African women in STEMM.
As a FeMS BootCamp Volunteer, you’ll work closely with the Programs Team and play a key role in one of the following focus areas:
Vendors & Logistics
Speakers & Panelists
Company Reps / Fundraising & Collaboration
This is a unique opportunity to gain experience working with an international nonprofit, develop your professional network, and contribute meaningfully to gender equity in STEMM.
Responsibilities:
Depending on your assigned team, you will:
Vendors & Logistics Team
Assist in securing event venues and coordinating logistics
Communicate with vendors and service providers
Support the preparation and distribution of event materials
Speakers & Panelists Team
Research and identify potential speakers, panelists, and facilitators
Draft outreach communications and assist with scheduling
Help coordinate speaker logistics and event flow
Company Reps / Fundraising & Collaboration Team
Identify and reach out to potential sponsors and collaborators
Assist with partnership documentation
Represent EFeMS in partnership meetings and events
General responsibilities include:
Attending weekly planning and training meetings
Qualifications:
Must be a current member of EFeMS
Background in a STEMM field (undergraduate, graduate, or professional level)
Strong interest in EFeMS’s mission and programs
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Able to commit at least 2 hours per week for team meetings and volunteer work
Willingness to serve as an ambassador for EFeMS at external events
Reliable internet connection and ability to work remotely
