Community Engagement Officer

Location: Remote (Ghana)

Position Type: Part-time volunteer (~6-10 hours a week)

About Us: Empowering Female Minds in STEM (EFeMS) is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting African women in STEM higher education. We offer mentorship, training, and community-building initiatives that help women thrive in STEM fields.

Role Overview: We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Community Engagement Officer to manage and grow our vibrant community of female STEM students and professionals. This role is crucial in fostering strong relationships with our members and ensuring effective engagement across various platforms. Please note that this is not a paid position.

Responsibilities:

  1. Build and maintain meaningful relationships with EFeMS members, ensuring their engagement with the organization’s initiatives.

  2. Develop and execute strategies to promote active participation in EFeMS programs, events, and activities.

  3. Manage and monitor the EFeMS members' platform (e.g., online communities) to facilitate discussions, share resources, and provide support.

  4. Collaborate with the Social Media Officer to ensure consistent and engaging content for members.

  5. Collect feedback from members to improve community engagement and identify new initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or a related field is a bonus

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience with online community management and engagement strategies.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and tools used for engagement.

  • Passionate about empowering women and advancing diversity in STEM.
